Local Classes
San Shou Kuan is predominantly a combative striking art that teaches the student explosive kicking, powerful punching techniques (Punch, chop, elbow, knee and kicks) and takedowns used in Sanda.
Watford Thur SANDA
Sanda is kickboxing with takedowns and throws. It differs from wrestling as in a clinch you only have few seconds to complete a throw and there is not groundwork. This makes it a very explosive fighting style beneficial to MMA and self defence as fighters try to remain on their feet. When / Travel / What / Bio

This class was taught by John Machell BCCMA British Sanda and Quinda champion but his move to Denmark handed this class his instructor of 20 years, David Nicholls.
David is a 6th Degree Black Belt who competed in numerous full contact kickboxing competitions in the 90s picking up various trophies and subsquently trained many British Champions. To enhance his early training David also spent months in Thai Boxing camps in Thailand and trained in UK boxing clubs for many years. (Sanda was relativily unknown in the UK at that time).
Time (and body!) permitting David is still striving to improve his skill set by attending workshops run by GB Sanda coach where he also takes some of his students to attend enabling them to train with the GB Squad.
David also holds a Masters in Sports and Exercise Science (MSc. SES) which he trys to utilise getting fighters ‘fighting fit’.
