San Shou Kuan is predominantly a combative striking art that teaches the student explosive kicking, powerful punching techniques (Punch, chop, elbow, knee and kicks) and takedowns used in Sanda.

Odense Class

Traditional class for adults and youth, incorporating basics for beginners.  Free Sparring and sparring techniques taught by experienced Black Belt.

 Rail:  Local station is Odense St. 

Buses:  140, 191 is a 5 minute drive to stop Gammelsø from Odense Station. Then about a 3 minute walk (240m) to venue.

Special Notes: Changing facilities are located on the 1st floor in the corridor opposite the stairs.
(The venue insists outdoor shoes are left near the entrance).

What to Expect:

Friendly mixed ability legitimate martial arts class.
After warm up and stretching; Basic MA techniques and drills. Break for beginners at 1 hour,  then divided into groups before concluding with free sparring based on your ability.

Bio – About the instructor (Sifu):

John Machell 2nd Degree Black Belt.  2017 BCCMA British U75k Sanda Champion; 2018 BCCMA British 75k Qingda Champion. San Shou Kuan National Taolu and Sanda champion 2017 and 2018.  ( Taolu is traditional forms; Sanda is full contact kickboxing with throwing; Qingda is a light contact variation of Sanda).  John passed his Black Belt whilst still a teenager* under David Nicholls 6th Degree Black Belt in the UK approx 20 years ago.  John currently now lives and teaches in Denmark.
(*A teenager sparring in the Adult Black Belt grading – San Shou Kuan doesn’t offer ‘junior’ Black Belts.  All martial art candidates must pass: forms, sparring and destruction tests to earn their Black Belt. )

San Shou Kuan is a full member of the BCCMA who are members of the European Wushu Federation & International Wushu Federation which in turn is recognised  by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ]
