San Shou Kuan Competition – Sanda (Full contact sparring), Qingda (Light contact sparring)
Sanda (Chinese: 散打; pinyin: Sǎndǎ), formerly Sanshou (Chinese: 散手; pinyin: Sǎnshǒu), also known as Chinese boxing or Chinese kickboxing, is the official Chinese full contact combat sport.[2] Sanda is a fighting system which was originally developed by the Chinese military based upon the study and practices of traditional kung fu and modern combat fighting techniques; it combines full-contact kickboxing, which includes close range and rapid successive punches and kicks, with wrestling, takedowns, throws, sweeps, kick catches, and in some competitions, even elbow and knee strikes.

Great competition for gaining experience (novices will be matched with novices) By mutual consent of both fighters bouts will be fought under Sanda (full contact) or Qingda (light contact) rules. Excellent preperation for National tournaments and improve your fitness and sharpen your competitive edge.

(free car park at rear or local roads)

1. Groin guard; 2. Gum shied; 3. Gloves;* 4. Rib protectors;* 5. Head guard;* 6. Shin and instep pads* 7. Shorts or black trousers plus T shirt. (gloves 12-14oz+ based on wt. category)
(* loan kit available, if you don’t have or organizer decides not suitable).
Recommended:
Water bottles, small towel.
Competition format:
By mutual consent of both fighters, bouts will (max of 3 rounds) either be under Sanda ( full contact) or Qinda (light contact) rules.
You will be weighed on the day, matched with similar weight opponent and experience level.
If not possible, bout will be considered ‘exhibition bout’ (Ie bigger, better fighter ‘protects’ smaller fighter).
Typically those under 18 wont punch to head (unless final and by mutual consent).
3 judges from different clubs will be used whenever possible.
Our Goals – Better Martial Artists
Gain experience in safe friendly comp. The referee’s will be proactive looking after your safety. Novice corner men/women can work with an experienced coach. Fighters/coaches are encouraged to shadow a judge to enhance their understanding of the rules, likewise the referees will be open to sharing ‘pointers’ .
