Local Classes

Warm up, Basic martial arts drills and skills including traditional form and basic grading.  
Extensive padwork to cover all types of punching and kicking. The class has a basic framework but emphasis is based on relevant areas that attendees need to improve.  Past graduates often rejoin sessions to continue honing their martial art skills. SSK members (who are not professional actors) may join these sessions with prior arrangement.   
Many of the actors with access to local SSK classes continue their training, with some well on the way to earning their Black Belt. The best way to portray an authentic martial artist – is be one !    An Approach used by many top A list action stars who also recognize it as great way to stay in shape.

David Nicholls MSc (Sports Science), 6 Degree Black Belt (not an actor) and former kickboxer has been teaching Martial Arts for almost  30 years.  He provides 3 hour sessions for 5 days with detailed feedback as part of this 10 day intensive stage combat course.  

 Ronin Traynor, 1st degree Black Belt, and in charge of this whole course.  A professional fight director and action coordinator and a certified teacher with the British Academy of Stage & Screen Combat, a fencing coach with The British Academy of Fencing and Academie d’Armes Internationale; and director of Independent Drama which provides fight choreography, actor training, weapon hire and combat casting services to drama schools, theatre groups and the film and theatre industry. He has directed fights for over 350 productions including film, TV, musicals, opera, motion capture and numerous theatre shows in the UK and overseas.
